A new week, a new set of Vegas tips. If you have any tips you’d like to be featured, let me know! I’d be happy to share them and attribute your website, Twitter handle, P.O box, or whatever you use as a form of communication.
Tip #1
Vegas Chatter writer EastCoastGambler (he seems familiar) tipped me off to a deal similar to that of Tropicana’s, which I talked about in the podcast recently. Both Cannery and East Side Cannery are offering a refund on gaming losses for new players in the form of free play up to $500. That’s a nice chunk of change and more than double the Tropicana offer of $200. Both casinos are a ways from the strip, so you’d need a car to get there, but as EastCoastGambler aptly stated, this could be a good excuse to check out a new property.
Tip #2
I was listening to the most recent You Can Bet on That podcast and not only did they have incredibly nice things to say about my show, they also made a good point about choosing where to play craps based on the table odds offered. A caller was wondering if they (Mark and Dr. Mike) make a decision about where to play based on the odds offered. They said it certainly plays a role, but they also take into consideration the atmosphere of the table. They also made a really astute point for low rollers by reminding us that if we’re betting minimum amounts and we are not going to be taking the maximum odds allowed, then choosing a casino based on odds alone isn’t necessarily the best play. Instead, we should probably pick a place where we’ll have the most fun. I agree with that whole heartedly. I gain utility from not only playing the game, but enjoying the ambience and the camaraderie. A good takeaway is to play at the amount in which you’re comfortable and play at the place you’re comfortable.
Tip #3
Inspiration for tip #3 came from NeonVacation. We both have an affinity for Bugsy’s Bar, the center bar of the Flamingo. It made me think about how under rated many casino bars are. The new 3535 bar at the Linq seems promising and MGM’s Centrifuge (pictured above) is another favorite of mine. Most of these casino bars offer the opportunity to get in some video poker and really good people watching. They can also serve as a good meeting place if you’re traveling with a large group of people. I hate meeting in someone’s room, having to wait for that one person or couple who’s consistently late. Casino bars let you get in a drink or two along with some cheap gambling before you hit the town.
