The November 9 and Poker Resources

PokerAtlas

The almost live broadcast (there will be a 30 minute delay) of the WSOP main event final table begins on ESPN2 at 8 pm Eastern tonight. I’m still not sure how I truly feel about watching a poker event live. On one hand, it’s kind of fun to play along with the players, guessing what everyone is holding. On the other, the dramatic irony of knowing all of the hands as play develops certainly adds a level of tension and excitement. The game will play out until there are two players left. The game will then break and heads up action will resume live at 9 pm Eastern tomorrow (Tuesday).

Watching the WSOP always has me clamoring for some poker action. To hold me over until my next Vegas trip, I typically peruse the board and reviews over at Poker Atlas. It’s a great site with a lively community of contributors. There are detailed trip reports, great room reviews, and tournament listings. This is my go to when referring rooms to new players and planning a poker trip.

Right now they have a really cool promotion going on. If you leave a review, they’ll send you a $1 Binion’s poker chip. I’m a sucker for Vegas memorabilia, so you know I took advantage of this.

Do you have any Vegas resources you’d like to share? Let me know in the comments below; I’d love to hear about them!

ESPN decided that the 30 minute delay was enough of a time buffer to display the players’ hole cards. There were some great, tense hands. The bluff and eventual knockout of Mark Newhouse comes to mind. Quite a long night for these players, with the final three not decided until after 3:00 am. The remaining trio will resume action tonight.
