I’m not a fan of convoluted rewards programs. Some companies make it nearly impossible to determine how much you should be rewarded for using their services. This is why I’m a fan of the Orbitz rewards system. When you book your travel using Orbitz, you earn what they call Orbucks based on the entire amount of your purchase, including taxes and fees. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect to earn:
- 5% on hotel room bookings
- 2% on flights
- 1% on packages
It’s as easy as 1,2, um…5. Say you book a hotel for one night at a $100 price point. You’ll earn 5 Orbucks, which is $5. You can use that $5 to help you save on future hotel bookings. An important note is that you can only use your Orbucks on hotel room bookings and you earn rewards on prepaid bookings. So, reservations in which you opt to pay at check-out would not garner any Orbucks. Either way, it’s a pretty straightforward program with an easy to understand 1:1 ratio for rewards and USD.
If you don’t have an Orbitz rewards account and click the “official” Vegas Fanboy Orbitz link below, you’ll receive a $25 towards a future hotel booking: Vegas Fanboy Orbitz Link
