In planning an upcoming, December trip to Vegas, my goal was to get at least one night comped via Playstudio’s myVegas game. I had more than enough points, but I’ve heard of scenarios in which the blackout dates and number of already redeemed rewards may mess with my reservation plans.
The Luxor, along with a few other hotel partners, offer both “weekend comp” and “weekend comp bonus dates” as rewards. The former being more expensive (LP wise) than the latter. Reason being is that there are fewer dates and rooms available for the bonus dates. I checked the calendar availability and the weekend dates I needed were available. Knowing that room availability is limited with the “bonus dates” reward, I decided to purchase both the “weekend comp” and “bonus dates” rewards. My idea was that if the “bonus dates” rewards was not available forredemption, perhaps more rooms would be available for the standard weekend comp.
I called the redemption line given, hit the appropriate numbers to reach the right representative, and was on hold for under a minute. I was then connected with myVegas rep Katie. She was incredibly helpful. I was happy to find out that the weekend I was looking to reserve was actually available for the bonus comp reward. Katie analyzed both the Friday and Saturday room rates to determine which would be more expensive if I were to pay out of pocket. She determined that Saturday would be slightly more expensive, so she applied the room reward to that day. This kind of customer care is something I love. This decision may have cost them a few dollars and cents on potential room fees, but this is the kind of service that helps companies acquire loyal customers.
It should be noted that these rewards can not be used for consecutive nights, which is why I did not try to book the Friday with the other reward. I simply and easily canceled the reward online when I got home.
This is the first time I’ve attempted to redeem a room reward and needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. The process was made easier by the fact that December is a notoriously slow month in Vegas, so occupancy rates are low, giving me a greater chance at being able to redeem the rewards. Couple that with a great customer service rep, and you have a happy and now loyal MGM customer.
